Dr. Chris Mussone – Dentist
Dr. Chris Mussone received his DDS from Marquette University School of Dentistry in 1999. Immediately following Dental School, Dr. Mussone provided Dentistry in Parker, Arizona, and then returned to his home state of California and practiced in Silicon Valley for several years. However, the allure of Colorado as a place to raise a family and pursue his hobbies grew too hard to resist. In 2007 he relocated to Colorado Springs, where he took over a 35 year established practice. When not treating patients, Dr. Mussone enjoys fly-fishing, hiking, and the outdoors, and his kids. His laid-back style of Dentistry makes his Staff and patients alike feel comfortable, and his experience is a great asset to our Team.
Dr. Paul Effinger – Dentist
Dr. Paul Effinger is a graduate of Midwestern University College of Dental Medicine – Illinois. After graduation he returned to his home state of Indiana for a year before moving to Woodland Park. Dr. Effinger enjoys the outdoors and spends his free time hiking, riding motorcycles and ATVs, and working on projects. He is looking forward to experiencing all the inter time activities the area has to offer.
Dr. Andrew Horne – Orthodontist
Dr. Andrew Horne has joined our family in Woodland Park and will be working with our Orthodontic Team. He grew up in Scottsdale, Arizona and attended Arizona State University graduating with a Bachelors of Science in Economics. He began his career in dentistry at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, graduating with his Doctorate of Dental Surgery. Dr. Horne then moved to Denver, Colorado and completed his orthodontic residency at the University of Colorado.
Dr. Mary Stuart – Periodontist
Dr. Stuart was a dental hygienist for 10 years prior to continuing her education as a dentist and subsequently becoming a Periodontist. She graduated from dental hygiene school in 1993 from Santa Fe Community College in Gainesville, Florida. After getting married to her husband Roy in 2001, she attended the University of Texas Health Science Center San Antonio and graduated as a Doctor of Dental Surgery in 2008. She then entered active duty in the United States Army as a general dentist and attended a one year advanced general dentistry residency at Fort Jackson, South Carolina. After two more years of general dentistry practice, she attended her 3 year Periodontal Residency at Fort Gordon in Augusta, Georgia and simultaneously attended Georgia Regents University also located in Augusta, Georgia. She graduated from both schools in 2014 with her certificate in Periodontics and a masters in Oral Biology. In 2015 she challenged and passed the American Board of Periodontology and became a diplomate. She is currently a member of the American Academy of Periodontology. In 2017, Dr. Stuart was assigned to serve at Fort Carson as the Chief of Periodontics and is the periodontal mentor at the One Year Advanced Educational General Dentistry Residency. Dr. Stuart enjoys spending time with family and friends, hiking in the beautiful Colorado Mountains, and attending church at First United Methodist Church in downtown Colorado Springs.
Judy – Orthodontics Manager
Judy has a BA in Business Administration from Northern Colorado. She has over 17 years of dental office management experience and currently manages our orthodontist practice.
Shawna – Office Manager
Shawna has over 15 years of dental and medical administrative experience. In her capacity as office manager she has intimate knowledge of all avenues of the practice including but not limited to treatment planning, making financial arrangements for patients, managing and optimizing patient’s use of their insurance, and supervising our front office, dental assistant, and hygienist team.
Nikki – Patient Care Coordinator
Nikki lives in Cripple Creek with her husband and fur babies. She moved to Colorado from South Dakota. Nikki is a Dental Assistant who is now our Patient Care Coordinator at Woodland Park Dental Group. Her infectious smile, upbeat personality, and expertise and knowledge in the dental field are welcomed by all!
Irene – EDDA
Irene is originally from California, and has been a Dental Assistant since 1995. After moving to Colorado with her family in 1998 she attended the University of Colorado where she acquired her EDDA certificate in 2000. Irene now lives in Colorado Springs with her children and two dogs. Irene’s calm and nurturing nature and vast expertise is such an asset to our office. She truly cares about our patients.
Vanessa – Dental Assistant
Vanessa is a Colorado native; she was born and raised in Denver and has always had an interest in dentistry. Along with being a DA, she is also currently attending UCCS to obtain a higher education in the dental field. Vanessa enjoys hiking and being outdoors with her husband. Her upbeat and positive attitude is enjoyed by all, staff and patients alike.
Elona – RDH
Elona attended Pueblo Community College and received her A.A.S. in Dental Hygiene in 2004. She has been practicing dental hygiene since 2004 and she received the Clnical Excellence Aware from the Colorado Dental Hygienist Association. Elona lives in Woodland Park with her husband and daughter. She enjoys traveling, spending time with her family and loves the outdoors.
Crystl – RDH
Crystl has over 18 years of Dental office experience as a Hygienist. She graduated from Pikes Peak Community College with a certificate in Dental Assisting in 1998, and from the Pueblo Community College Dental Hygiene Program in 2000. Crystl lives in beautiful Woodland Park, and enjoys sewing, crafting, and spending time with her friends and family. We are blessed to have her on our fabulous Team!
Jackie – Dental Assistant
Jackie is originally from Las Vegas, but spent the last 3 years in Germany before settling down in Colorado. Jackie graduated from the Colorado Dental Assisting School in her spare time while working another job, because she wanted to pursue her love of dentistry. In her free time, she likes to hike, decorate cakes, and do ballet. Her smile is infectious, and the team is so happy to have her at Woodland Park Dental!
Arturo – Dental Assistant
Arturo recently graduated from the Colorado Dental Assisting School at the top of his class. He loves our patients, and they love him! He was raised in Colorado Springs. He enjoys skiing, kayaking, and hiking with his Cocker Spaniel “Forrest.” Arturo served in the US Navy as an engineer, bringing him back home to Fort Carson as a Reservist. He enjoys helping others, and truly looks out for the health of others. He has a genuine smile which shows this!
Cindy – RDH
Cindy is a Registered Dental Hygienist at Woodland Park Dental Group. She obtained her degree at the Community College of Denver. Cindy is a Colorado native and enjoys the outdoors. Her many years of experience, along with her positive attitude which is infectious, make her a great asset to our office. She truly cares about her patients.
Alicia – RDH
Alicia served in the United States Army on active duty for six years as a dental specialist. Following her time in service, she returned to her home state of Indiana to attend dental hygiene school. She graduated with an Associate of Science in Dental Hygiene from Ivy Tech Community College in 2014, then worked as a dental hygienist primarily in periodontal practices for three years. She received her Bachelor of Science in Public Health Dental Hygiene from the Indiana University School of Dentistry in 2016, then became a faculty member of the dental hygiene program at Ivy Tech Community College, where she taught clinical dental hygiene. She is also currently pursuing a Master of Dental Hygiene from The Ohio State University.
She has experience providing dental hygiene care in very diverse settings, including military posts overseas and in the United States, periodontal practices, general dentistry practices, dental hygiene and dental assisting educational programs, and volunteer service in Colorado and Honduras. She thoroughly enjoys enhancing her knowledge, skills, and experience in the dental hygiene discipline and providing patients with the best oral healthcare possible.
Alicia enjoys traveling and outdoor activities, including fishing, camping, hiking, four-wheeling, and skiing. She also loves spending time with her husband and animals.
